The useful fact first: the 13.3-inch HP EliteBook 830 G8, Core i5 and the 14-inch HP EliteBook 840 G8, Core i5 11th Gen are both AED 1,399, and the 15.6-inch HP EliteBook 850 G7, Core i7 10th Gen is AED 1,599. Across the two smaller sizes, screen size costs you nothing at all — so choose on how you work, not on budget.
How HP’s numbering works
HP’s EliteBook naming is unusually honest: the middle digit is the size. 830 is 13.3 inches, 840 is 14 inches, 850 is 15.6 inches. The G-number after it is the generation of the design — a G8 is a later design than a G7. Everything else, including the processor, varies by individual unit, which is why the product page matters more than the model name.
The three sizes, at today’s prices

| HP EliteBook 840 G8, Core i7 11th Gen | AED 1,699 | 14 inches with a Core i7, for heavier multitasking |

Which size, honestly
- 13.3 inches (the 830) if the laptop lives in a bag. Commuters, people who work in cafés and co-working spaces, and anyone who flies often. The trade-off is a smaller screen for long spreadsheet sessions.
- 14 inches (the 840) if you want one machine for everything. This is the size most people should buy, and it is why the 840 is the volume seller of the three. It carries comfortably and is still a real working screen.
- 15.6 inches (the 850) if the machine stays on a desk. More screen, and a chassis with room for a number pad. If you mostly work seated in one place, the extra AED 200 buys you a better working day.
If you are weighing size in general rather than HP specifically, the AED 1,000–1,500 band and the AED 1,500–2,000 band show what else is available at each size.
Two things we are checking rather than claiming
The 830 G8’s processor generation. Our own listing for that unit records a 10th generation Core i5, while HP’s 830 G8 design is normally an 11th-generation machine. We have flagged that internally and we are not going to repeat either number at you as fact — ask us on WhatsApp and we will read the processor off the actual unit before you buy. If processor generation matters to your decision, this is the question to ask.
Weights. People choosing by size usually want kilograms, and our listings do not carry a verified weight for every EliteBook. We will not print numbers we have not measured. Ask and we will weigh the specific unit.
The cheapest route into an EliteBook
It is the EliteBook 840 G7 at AED 1,299 — a 14-inch machine with a Core i7, one design generation behind the G8 and AED 100 cheaper than the 840 G8 with a Core i5. For ordinary office work we would still take the newer G8 platform, but if you want the most processor for the least money in this family, the G7 is it. Our Core i5 vs Core i7 piece is the honest version of how much that badge is worth.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between HP EliteBook 830, 840 and 850?
Screen size. The 830 is 13.3 inches, the 840 is 14 inches and the 850 is 15.6 inches. Processor and memory vary by individual unit, so compare the product pages rather than the model numbers.
Which EliteBook size should I buy?
14 inches (the 840) suits most people. Choose 13.3 inches if you carry it daily, and 15.6 inches if it stays on a desk and you want more screen or a number pad.
Is the 13.3-inch EliteBook more expensive because it is smaller?
No. The 830 G8 and the 840 G8 Core i5 are both AED 1,399 here, so size is not costing you anything between those two.
Which generation of processor is in the EliteBook 830 G8?
Our listing and HP’s usual specification for that design do not agree, so we are verifying it per unit rather than publishing a number. Message us on WhatsApp and we will read the processor off the unit you are considering.
How much is the 15.6-inch EliteBook 850?
The EliteBook 850 G7 with a Core i7 is AED 1,599 for the lowest configuration, with free delivery to every emirate.
