The Dell Precision 5550, Core i7 10th Gen, 4GB graphics is AED 1,949 and the Dell Precision 3551 Mobile Workstation, Core i7 10th Gen, 4GB graphics is AED 2,149. Both are Core i7 10th-generation mobile workstations with 4GB of dedicated graphics, and they are the only two machines in our catalogue built for CAD, 3D and sustained rendering work. The surprise is that the cheaper one comes from Dell’s more premium workstation line.
What a mobile workstation actually is
A workstation is not just a laptop with a graphics chip. The difference is that it is specified and certified to run professional software — AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit and similar — for hours without throttling, and it is built with the cooling and the chassis strength to do it. That is why these two units sit above everything else in our price list, and why an ordinary office laptop is the wrong buy if this is your actual work.
Both have been through the 50-point check like every other unit, and the thermal behaviour of a workstation is exactly the sort of thing that check exists for.
The two lines, and why the pricing looks backwards
Dell’s Precision range splits by number. The 3000 series, which includes the 3551, is the entry-level workstation: full capability, more conventional chassis. The 5000 series, which includes the 5550, is the thin premium workstation — the one built to be carried to a client site rather than left on a desk.
So the AED 1,949 Precision 5550 is from the higher line than the AED 2,149 Precision 3551. We are not going to invent a reason for that. Used pricing follows condition, configuration and what we paid for the unit, not the original model hierarchy. It does mean that if the two suit you equally, the 5550 is the better value on today’s prices.

The thing we will not tell you, and why it matters here
Our product pages state “4GB dedicated graphics” without naming the graphics chip, and we are not going to guess one for you. On a workstation that is not a small detail — professional software certification is granted per graphics chip, so if your firm requires a specific certified card for AutoCAD or SolidWorks, message us on WhatsApp and we will read the chip off the actual unit before you pay.
The same applies to the Precision 3551’s operating system, which our listing does not currently record, and to RAM and storage, which vary by build. We would rather you asked and got a real answer than read a number here that might not match the machine in the box.
Who should buy which
- Buy the Precision 5550 if you travel to sites or clients with the machine, or if you simply want the better-built line for less money. On today’s prices it is the stronger value.
- Buy the Precision 3551 if the specific configuration on that unit suits you better — more memory or storage in the build you want can easily be worth AED 200.
- Buy neither if your “3D work” is occasional. The Latitude 5421 at AED 1,799 is a Core i7 H-series touchscreen machine for AED 350 less than the 3551, and for light creative work the MacBook Pro 16-inch A2141 at AED 1,649 is cheaper again.
If you are choosing between a Precision and a MacBook for creative work, we have written that comparison out in full.
The honest limits, before you buy
- The 12-month NewAsNew Assured warranty covers hardware faults. The battery and the charger are not covered — a used battery is a wear item, and we will not pretend otherwise.
- We are online only. There is no showroom in Dubai or Sharjah to walk into.
- Prepaid only. Card or bank transfer. There is no secure online payment.
- 14 days to return from delivery, with free pickup anywhere in the UAE.
- RAM and storage vary by unit. The listed price is the lowest build; the product page shows what each configuration costs.
- On a workstation the battery exclusion bites harder than usual, because sustained rendering is the hardest thing you can ask of a used battery. Plan to work plugged in.

Frequently asked questions
Which is better, the Precision 5550 or the 3551?
They are both Core i7 10th-generation workstations with 4GB of dedicated graphics. The 5550 is from Dell’s premium thin workstation line and costs less here — AED 1,949 against AED 2,149. On today’s prices the 5550 is the better value unless the 3551’s specific build suits you better.
Which graphics card do they have?
Our listings state 4GB of dedicated graphics without naming the chip, and we will not guess. Ask us on WhatsApp and we will read the exact chip off the unit before you buy. If your software needs a certified card, do this first.
Can these run AutoCAD and SolidWorks?
They are the two machines in our catalogue built for that class of work. Whether a specific unit meets your software’s certified-hardware list depends on the graphics chip in it, so confirm that with us against your own software requirements before buying.
Is a workstation worth it over a normal laptop?
Only if you actually run professional 3D, CAD or sustained video work. If you do not, an office machine like the Latitude 5520 at AED 1,149 does the job for less than half the money, and we would rather tell you that.
What warranty applies?
The same 12-month NewAsNew Assured cover on hardware faults, with the battery and charger excluded, and 14 days to return. See warranty and returns.
