If you fly between the UAE and India often and want a second machine you will not panic about losing, the cheapest sensible option we stock is the Dell Latitude 7480, Core i5 6th Gen at AED 749. It is an ex-corporate 14-inch business ultrabook, not a cheap consumer shell, and it has been through the same 50-point check as every other unit on this site. If you want the smaller 13.3-inch class instead, the HP EliteBook 830 G8, Core i5 is AED 1,399.
What a travel second laptop actually needs
A travel machine is not a cheaper version of your main laptop. It has a different job: survive being handled badly, start up fast in an airport, and cost little enough that a loss is annoying rather than ruinous. In practice that means four things.
- A 13.3 or 14-inch chassis. A 15.6-inch machine will go in a cabin bag, but you will stop taking it. The Latitude 7000 and 5000 series at 14 inches and the EliteBook 830 at 13.3 inches are the practical sizes.
- An SSD, not a mechanical drive. Spinning drives are the part most likely to object to being carried around. If a listing does not state SSD, ask us before you buy.
- A business-grade build. These were specified for staff who travel, which is why the hinges, keyboards and chassis are built to a different standard than a budget consumer laptop at the same price. That is the whole reason we sell ex-corporate stock.
- A price you can shrug at. Under AED 1,000 is the band where a second machine stops feeling like a risk.

Two ThinkPads just landed, and they belong on this list
We have added the Lenovo ThinkPad X390, Core i5 8th Gen at AED 790 and the Lenovo ThinkPad X13, Core i5 10th Gen at AED 940. ThinkPad X-series machines are Lenovo’s small travel line, and until now we had nothing from Lenovo at all — so if you have been waiting for a ThinkPad keyboard, this is the first time we can offer one. The X390 is the cheaper, older-generation unit; the X13 is the newer one. Check the display size and ports on the product page before you choose, and ask us if the listing does not answer your question — these are new arrivals and we would rather confirm than guess. If you are weighing the three brands against each other, our Dell vs HP vs Lenovo comparison is the honest version.

If you want a 2-in-1 for the plane
A convertible that folds flat is genuinely better on a tray table, and we stock three in the 13.3-inch class: the Dell Latitude 5300 2-in-1 Touch, Core i5 8th Gen at AED 1,299, the Dell Latitude 5320 2-in-1 Touch, Core i5 11th Gen at AED 1,549 and the Dell Latitude 5310 2-in-1, Core i5 10th Gen at AED 1,599. The cheapest is the 8th-generation 5300; the 5320 is the 11th-generation option if you want more years of support. All three are touchscreens — see every touchscreen laptop we stock.
The plug and power question
This one is simpler than people expect. The UAE runs 220–240V at 50Hz on a three-pin Type G socket. India runs 230V at 50Hz on Type C, D and M sockets. The voltage and frequency are effectively the same, and every laptop charger we have ever shipped is a 100–240V unit, so you do not need a voltage converter — only a plug adapter. Check the small print on your own charger brick before you rely on that.
If charging over USB-C matters to you, ask before you buy rather than guessing from the model number. Our product pages list the ports for most units, but not all of them, and we would rather tell you what is actually in the box than infer it.
The warranty limit, stated plainly
This is the part a travel guide should be honest about. The 12-month NewAsNew Assured warranty is a UAE warranty, served from the UAE. If a fault appears while you are in India, do not assume there is a counter to walk into — message us on WhatsApp first and we will tell you what we can and cannot do for your specific situation before you travel. We would rather set that expectation now than have you discover it in Kochi.
The other limits apply as always: the battery and the charger are not covered, and a battery is exactly the part that a frequently travelled laptop works hardest.
The honest limits, before you buy
- The 12-month NewAsNew Assured warranty covers hardware faults. The battery and the charger are not covered — a used battery is a wear item, and we will not pretend otherwise.
- We are online only. There is no showroom in Dubai or Sharjah to walk into.
- Prepaid only. Card or bank transfer. There is no secure online payment.
- 14 days to return from delivery, with free pickup anywhere in the UAE.
- RAM and storage vary by unit. The listed price is the lowest build; the product page shows what each configuration costs.
The detail is all written down: our 50-point quality check · what the warranty covers · how returns work · delivery across the UAE.
What we would not recommend
Two things. First, do not buy a 15.6-inch machine as a travel second laptop because it is cheaper per inch — the Dell Latitude 5570, Core i5 6th Gen at AED 749 is good value, but it is a desk machine. Second, do not buy a second laptop at all if your main one is already light and you fly twice a year. The honest answer is sometimes a bag and a plug adapter.
Frequently asked questions
What is the cheapest laptop you would recommend for travel?
The Dell Latitude 7480, Core i5 6th Gen at AED 749. It is a 14-inch ex-corporate business unit and the lowest price in our catalogue. Nothing we sell is cheaper than AED 749.
Will the laptop run Windows 11?
That depends on the processor generation, and it is not the same across our stock. Microsoft’s Windows 11 processor list excludes many 6th and 7th generation Intel chips, so an older unit may be a Windows 10 machine in practice. Ask us about the specific unit on WhatsApp before you buy — we will not tell you it runs Windows 11 unless that unit does.
Can I claim the warranty in India?
The 12-month warranty is a UAE warranty served from the UAE. Message us on WhatsApp with your situation before you travel and we will tell you exactly what applies to your unit. We will not promise you a service counter in India on a web page.
Do I need a voltage converter between the UAE and India?
Almost certainly not. Both countries run 220–240V at 50Hz and laptop chargers are near-universally 100–240V, so a plug adapter is normally all that is needed. Confirm the input range printed on your own charger.
Do you deliver outside the UAE?
No. We deliver across the UAE only, free to every emirate, and we are prepaid only with no secure online payment. See our shipping page for the detail.
